I think essential oils definitely do heal. The use of essential oils has a long history. My grandmother used plants for the healing qualities when she was young and that’s where many of the great “old wives’ tales” have their origin. I love essential oils. I used to have a soap making business before it was the in fashion, which, I started it in 2001. The soaps, body products and home products I made only had essential oils in them. I did a lot of research back then on the properties of various essential oil and the benefits of them. My choice was to not use any synthetic fragrances in my soaps, because, I preferred the healing quality of essential oils.
I’ve continued using essential oils in my home even after I closed my soap business. I had a lot of essential oils left over, I mean a lot! I’d use the little diffuser that you put a few drops of essential oil in water with tea light burning below. But, now I’ve discovered the home diffuser and humidifier! A whole new world has opened up 🙂 I have renewed my love with essential oils, not that it was ever gone, but, it had just been put on the back burner for while. Let me tell you how this has happened.
I was able to get rid of my plantar wart with essential oils
I haven’t had warts since I was a kid and they were on my fingers. My mother treated them and they’ve never returned. A year ago I noticed a lot of pain in my right foot at the base of my middle toe. I checked it out and it felt like I had a callus. I’d try to scrape it away with my pumice stone, but, it kept recurring. I couldn’t pumice or moisturize it away! Last spring we were going to New Orleans, so, I wanted to get a pedicure before the trip. The esthetician told me that my callus was probably a plantar wart. I didn’t know too much about plantar warts. I read that its a wart caused by a virus, a specific type of HPV, yuk! Being a virus it can usually run its course and disappear within a year or two without treatment. I waited hoping the wart would heal itself. But, it was so darn painful when I was at work. I had to do something. Continually scraping it off like a callus wasn’t giving me relief for very long.
My sister had given me a bottle of oregano essential oil that she had bought from Costco and it had been sitting in my cupboard for a few months. I thought I would give it a try. Oregano oil is a great immune booster, antiviral and antibacterial oil. So, for about four to six days I put the oregano essential oil on my plantar wart. I would rub it into the callus and put socks on. I honestly didn’t apply the oregano essential oil on a very strict schedule. Some days I would forget and other days I’d only put it on once. But, within a week the plantar wart had stopped getting bigger. The callus was peeling away and no new callus was recurring. It’s been a few weeks now and the callus and pain is gone. I think the oregano essential oil did the trick!
Yes, maybe the wart was at the end of its life cycle, but, I know that after a year of pain, I’m just happy it’s gone! A couple of things happened right after my plantar wart was cured… a colleague at work, who I already knew was into essential oils was talking with me about the oils she uses. She gave me a sample of an essential oil blend to let my husband try to help with his gastric reflux. She swears it helped her husband with his. Keith has been using the blend she provided me instead of his prescription medication (which ran out) for two weeks. He thinks its working. I’ll check in with him about that. My friend at work sells doTerra. Then my sister posted something on Facebook about getting a box of essential oils. She’s buying and using Young Living. Being curious I talked to her about it. I bought the diffusor from her with a few oil blends. I love the diffusor and I love the fact that I don’t have to use candles! Since hearing about these two companies I’ve researched a little more and found a company that I’d like to check out called Rocky Mountain Oils. This company isn’t a MLM. I’ve read good things about the quality of their oils which is very important if you want to benefit from the essential oils therapeutic qualities.
Have you used essential oils? Is there any particular company or brand that you’d recommend?
ps this weekend I’m doing the Mudderalla in Whistler with a group of friends from work. Wish us luck!
