Recently I’ve been thinking about my age. I’ve been wondering if all the things I’m embracing now is too little too late. When I have those thoughts it depresses me, so, I try to tell myself (in harsh words), of course it’s not too late! Fifty is the new thirty as someone recently said to me. Hmmm, not sure if I’d go that far, but, definitely the new forty!
I see many healthy and active ninety year olds come into emergency and I think that when they were in their early fifties it would’ve been in the early 70’s. I was just a little kid at that time! When I think of that, it gives me hope, that there is still time to do so much! I know these thoughts have become more prevalent, because, of my mothers decline in health related to Alzheimer’s. Even though on the surface we are all handling it well, it still eats away at you and makes you feel sad and worried about the future.
Recently I discovered an entrepeneur on YouTube who puts out content for people wanting to be successful in general. I can’t quite recall how I discovered him and some of it doesn’t relate to me, but, a few of his quick video’s inspired me. I’ll share the link with you. He has an urgency about him and a hyperactiveness, but, he obviously is a go-getter and it did get him places. This particular talk was about being in your forties and fifties and it’s not too late to make changes, because, there are still many years ahead of you (for most people). And really that’s how you have to think (I tell myself). You can’t focus on what if this happens or what if in five years I can’t remember my kids names and so on. You just have to keep going and do things that you enjoy and give you fulfilment while taking care of the daily adventures of life!

I really enjoyed this one minute slap in the face!
So, I’ll continue eating a plant-based diet! I’m excited to share that the one thing I found so hard to give up, the cream in my coffee, I’ve given up! I tried all kinds of other nut milks as substitutes and I didn’t like them at all. I find that my coffee black, tastes to me as good, as my coffee used to when it had a little cream in it. This makes things so much simpler for me when going out for coffee too. I’m honestly not just “making do” with black coffee! I really, really enjoy it!! My choice to eat plant-based was mainly triggered by my desire to stay healthy as long as possible, plus, I’ve never been much of a meat-eater. Even though I only started my plant-based eating, eliminating processed food, eliminating sugar, and eliminating bad fats journey at the end of 2015 I’m hopeful it will be beneficial for me in the long run!
I want to share one more YouTube clip. This one’s from Flexie Foodie, Julie Montagu, who currently is on the reality show Ladies of London. I followed her on social media before this show. She is a Yoga instructor and a vegan. The toast above, has a spread on it, that I saw her make on her channel that is to die for! Plus super easy to make. I had to make some alterations to her exact recipe, but, I must say my version is still darn good. Check out her channel for healthy recipes and Yoga instructions.

The weekend is coming up… usually this doesn’t mean too much to me (because of my shift work), but, this weekend is special. I’m going to be spending a night in downtown Vancouver with my husband getting all dressed up. I’m looking so forward to this! Maybe fifty is the new thirty!
Enjoy the rest of the week and have a happy weekend!
